HOW DO I REGISTER A
NEW DOMAIN NAME?
If you sign up with VLE Hosting and don't currently have a domain name, we are happy to handle the domain registration process for you.
If you would like to handle Domain Name Registration yourself, you are welcome to do so. Otherwise, we'll use the information submitted on your order form to register your domain name.
For customers who already have a domain name, please refer to the section below regarding how to modify your domain name.
HOW MUCH DOES VLE HOSTING CHARGE
TO HANDLE DOMAIN NAME REGISTRATION?
We charge a one-time fee of $24.95 per domain to register a domain for one year. This fee includes a one time processing fee of $10.00 plus our low customer domain registration cost of $14.95. [each additional year is billed for only $14.95] - (New Domains)
We can also at no additional cost, can help you modify your domain to point to our DNS servers. (Existing Domains)

CHARACTERS MY DOMAIN CAN CONTAIN?
Valid characters for a domain name are the following:
The letters A-Z
The numbers 0-9
The - character (dash)

HOW DO I MODIFY AN EXISTING DOMAIN
NAME TO WORK WITH VLE HOSTING?
To make your domain hosting work with your VLE Hosting account, you need to make sure that your domain name points to the following name servers:
Primary Server Hostname: ns1.verdunlyles.com
Secondary Server Hostname: ns2.verdunlyles.com
There are many different organizations that allow you to register a domain name. Your domain will need to be modified through the same organization it was registered. The procedure for modifying a domain at each of these different registrars will vary. If you are un-sure where your domain name was registered, VLE Hosting will be glad to help you transfer your domain to our servers. Please email support@verdunlyles.com and let us know what your domain is and we can guide you through the process.
How long does it take to modify an existing domain?
Depending on the registrar used to register your domain name originally, the time to modify an existing domain name can vary.
When a domain modification is accepted, domain propagation needs to take place.
Before a transfer takes place, the "Internet" knows where your domain name is, and remembers it. This is referred to as caching. When your domain name is modified, the "Internet" will still remember your domain name, and direct traffic to where it was previously hosted. The cache will eventually expire, and the "Internet" will start finding your domain name in the correct location. This process can take anywhere from 5 minutes to 7 days, but in most cases, it takes 24-48 hours. This time will also be different for each ISP, so someone connecting through a different ISP than you may be able to see your domain name before you can or visa versa.
